At the doctor's request, Jo was admitted to The Mater Hospital on Thursday the 12/4/07 at 20:00 to be induced. Jo's blood pressure was high and the babies heart was racing so she was not induced until around midnight.
By 08:30 on Friday the 13th April, Jo was about 2cm dilated and at 0900, the midwife ruptured the membrane and Jo's waters broke. After three hours of labour, Jo had an epidural at 12 noon and wow, what a difference that made!
Unfortunately, by 15:00 the epidural had worn off and the next three hours for Jo was literally a living nightmare. I have never seen one person endure aso much pain and I can tell you, I am so proud of my wife for her courage and determination.
By 18:15 Jo was fully dilated and the job at hand was to push this very determined baby out. Dr Fowler meant business at this stage and he had every tool of his collection on hand to assist.
After six more contractions and very heavy pushing, our gift was delivered to us in one perfect bundle. The emotion and the relief of laying your eyes on such a healthy and perfect baby, was overwhelming.
We are the luckiest people in the world right now.
